Here's an excerpt: "Having tried a lot of raw converters and photo processing tools, having studied the possibilities of raw conversion, I finally found the solution that was a perfect fit on all counts, from the process to the result. Someone keeps the website up though, right? I have no idea how successful the software has been for the author. I guess that's pretty much how it goes with the mainstream folks though, right? Still, double the popularity is twice the recognition and funding (if that has anything to do with it), so maybe the work would be worth the effort. I imagine most of them don't know what they're missing though. Of course, for most people it might not be worth messing with, because CaptureOne Pro and Lightroom are already working "fine" for them. I think this little converter might just have a lot of potential, and with some more work might become a lot more popular. I wouldn't mind making a donation, if it could be made to work with Windoze 11, and maybe as a plugin for other software, like DarkTable or CaptureOne Pro or whatever. I hope the author picks it up and does some more work on it. As it is, it’ll remain in my Applications folder, unlike most of the other Raw converters I’ve looked at, and despite the strange darker-than-advertised exports I experienced." And since I’m glad I found RPP, I’m glad I read those 400 or so comments on that DPReview article about whatever-it-was, as without that, I might never have come across RPP at all. Oh, and just in case someone doesn't know, it apparently is/was available as a plugin for Lightroom if you donate to the cause (of developing the software, I presume). I did find a couple of his comments here in an old thread about RPP: I'm hoping he pops his head in here to comment. Not tried with sigma raws.įrom my research it looks like Iliah Borg may have had some input into this raw converter. It’s a raw converter not a photo editor but can deliver a good starting point conversion for editing in PS etc. The new beta show support for sigma x3f files. Has anyone tried RPP raw photo processor 64. How's the speed? Does it offer any noise reduction? How about exposure/contrast adjustments and things like shadow/highlight recovery? Not that I'm looking for a new converter. I'm afraid to download it, but if your results work well enough, I'll do some more research into that converter, like I did with Affinity Photo 2. ISO 1600?!? Holy cow! Do you do that often? If so, are you happy with your results? (I'm guessing so, or you'd use a different camera for that.) Please post some full jpegs here from your experiments. But some other files I put up are also coming out nicer than spp, for my tastes at least. Haven't had time to really play around and seem if there are drawbacks. Quite different but most importantly, the green flare is gone? not expecting much difference and this happenedĭidn't tweak anything in either program. ![]() So I tried it out quickly, random file from a shoot recently, didn't even choose it because it was backlit.
